How impoverished our lives would be without the spectacular diversity of birds. They are a wonderful manifestation of life on earth. But many species, particularly habitat specialists or those that occupy a narrow climate space, have become massively reduced in abundance since the 1950's as a result of the activities of man. Great photographs help to bring them to our attention and focus conservation effort on protecting them for future generations. It is our duty.
